In a virtual desktop architecture, desktop operating systems are ran inside virtual machines hosted on physical servers located in the company datacenter. The desktop sessions are intelligently presented to the user over the network. This configuration breaks the tight coupling between the hardware installed on the user’s desk and the software that is being used by that user.
